2702 Winter's Grip - Bull Elk
National Elk Refuge, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
A hardy survivor of the Northern Rockies, a magnificent bull elk takes a moment from his near-constant foraging to alert his senses to nearby predators. For the first time in 65 years, wolves were sighted on the National Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and so began the restoration of a land that was once an ecosystem complete with natural predators. While elk do not display constant signs of nervousness to the wolves' presence, they do heed the warning of their herd, and take to running if the wolves begin pursuit. Edition of 950.
