From green to red, the full spectrum of aurora colors fill the sky above the Teton range at the peak of the strongest solar storm since 1989. The northern lights rarely grace the skies above northern Wyoming, though a strong set of flares from the sun can set these relatively southern skies aglow. In early May 2024, the sun launched a series of large earth-directed flares in one of the largest solar events on record. Onlookers around the world witnessed the rare event as auroras danced directly overhead in Wyoming and on the horizon as far south as Florida and Hawaii.
