Dwarfed by the majestic Teton Range, famed Grizzly 399 and her three juvenile cubs traverse the still snow-covered sagebrush of Antelope Flats. Emerging from the den two weeks prior, this bear family traveled some thirty miles from their den site to Blacktail Butte in search of food after their long winter slumber. Less than a week later they were back in their typical home territory at Oxbow Bend scavenging for winterkilled fish, which were stranded when the Snake River’s flows dropped in the fall.
