Indian Summer at the Pond
Limited Edition 950 | Artist Proof 95
As autumn starts to take hold and aspen trees begin their seasonal transition, summer-like weather still lingers beneath the Tetons despite the shorter days. This gradual change of season also marks the start of the mating season, or rut, for the valley’s moose. Standing just out of sight on this tranquil day, a cow and her calf feed on willow leaves and aquatic vegetation in the pond. Although the female did not seem too receptive to mating yet, the bull’s intentions were quite clear, and he would not let her out of his sight. In a few short weeks the rut will be over, the trees bare, and snow will blanket the valley, putting an end to the beautiful autumn season.
