Grizzly 399 emerges from the shadowy forest and into the bright springtime light with her four cubs of the year in tow. Having made her first appearance outside of the den just a few days prior, her cubs are still wary of the outside world. Each cub has a distinct personality with some finding solace in proximity to mom, while others may find their comfort in exploration and curiosity. Typically born in January and weighing about a pound, newborn grizzly cubs spend roughly 4 months tucked in close to mom in the den as they grow big enough to follow their mother across the rugged landscape in search of food when spring finally arrives.
